There are those that try to deny that the great flood of Noah ever really happened. They just can not believe that the whole world at one time could have been covered by a flood of water.
Why?
Is it because it could not rain that much in 40 days?
Well, Let's see:
Recorded Rain Fall = Most in one minute: 38 mm (1.5 in)

1.5" x 60 minutes = 90" in 1 hour
24 hours x 90" = 2160" in one 24hr day
2160" x 40 days = 86400" in 40 days
86400" divided by 12" = 7200 feet of rain in 40 days
Man, that is a lot of rain, more than a mile of rain in 40 days. And the Bible says, "Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered."(
Genesis 7:19-20
).
1 Cubit = 18"
18" x 15cubits = 270" in 15 cubits
270" divided by 12" = 22.5 feet above the tallest mountain.
Mount Everest = 29,029' above sea level
29,029' + 22.5' = 29,051.5 feet of water needed for Noah's Flood.
At this point the skepics might say, "See, I told you that it could not rain that much in 40 days."
At which point I would have to say, "Rain? Is that what the Bible says happened? or is this just something you believed because someone told you that is what happened?"
Remember back in Study 004 on Authority, where we said we were going to use the Bible as our source of authority, and not what we may have always heard, believed, or someone told us? Well, let's see what the Bible says how God brought enough water to flood even Mt. Everest with 22 and a half feet of water.
Genesis 7:11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep broken up, and the windows of heaven were opened.
Genesis 7:12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.
You see, the Bible says there were 'fountains of the great deep broken up'.
How many fountains? I don't know, the Bible does not say, only that there were more than one, fountains = plural.
How much water came out of these fountains? Well, that I do know.
It was enough to cover Mt. Everest with 15 cubits of water.
And besides all of this, there have been sea shells found on mountain tops.
It is easer to believe the Bible than not to believe the Bible.
